Founded in 1933, during one of the most challenging periods in American history, Mosteller’s has grown alongside the city it calls home. Through generations of technological change, the expansion of America’s highway system, and the evolution of the towing and recovery industry, our mission has remained the same—providing dependable, professional service when it matters most.

Operating in Chattanooga, Tennessee—the birthplace of the modern tow truck—places us at the heart of the towing industry’s history. Just a few miles from where Ernest Holmes Sr. developed the world’s first practical wrecker in 1916, Mosteller’s has carried forward a tradition of innovation, hard work, and service that has defined Chattanooga’s reputation throughout the towing world.

In 2003, Janie Parker came to Mosteller’s Wrecker Inc. to assist with the sale of the company during one of the most challenging periods in its history. Rather than selling the business, Janie recognized its potential and chose to purchase Mosteller Wrecker, Inc. herself.

The company was in need of revitalization, and Janie brought decades of experience in transportation and logistics to the organization. Beginning with a single truck, she built Whitaker Trucking, Inc. into a coast-to-coast transportation company operating a fleet of 125 trucks and specializing in both general freight and heavy-haul transportation.

Through years of leadership, investment, and revitalization, Janie has helped position Mosteller’s for a strong future. Today, Mosteller’s is on track to continue its legacy as Chattanooga’s premier wrecker and recovery service provider for the next 100 years.
